Annual Dinner & Presentation of Prizes

The annual dinner and presentation of prizes will take place on Friday 5th February at 7:30pm. Please note that we expect all members to be seated at 7:30pm, so please be at the club for around 7pm and enjoy a drink beforehand.

If you have been fortunate enough to have won a prize this year, please try to attend and enjoy rapturous applause as you pick up your trophy.

The cost will be £20 per person which includes your meal and the evening entertainment. This year we are honoured to have Alan Tait as our guest speaker. Alan is a top golf pundit who co-hosts “The Golf Show” every Sunday morning, alongside media correspondent Graham Spiers on BBC Radio Scotland. He also does “on course” commentary at The Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open and, The Open Championship, also with the BBC.

In 1994 Alan was the first ever player to shoot 64 at the famous Carnoustie Championship Course – regarded as one of the toughest in the world. This is still a joint course record to date.

As an amateur Alan won the Scottish Boys at Dunbar in 1986 and went on to win the Doug Sanders European and World Junior titles in the same year. He then became only the 5th person in Scottish golf history to be capped at boys, youths and senior level in the same season. In 1989 he lost in the final of the Scottish Amateur Championship at Lossiemouth at the 36th hole.

It promises to be a fantastic evening. As there is limited seating, please add your name to the list on the noticeboard as soon as possible. If you can’t make it up to the club, reply to this post or call the club to arrange for your name to be added.

Autumn Outing Results

Our Autumn outing took us to Schawpark Golf Club in Alloa. The course was in excellent condition and proved to be a tricky course to score. Congratulations to Iain Ashley who won with 36 points.

Thanks to Scott Knowles who drove us up and back in the Stephen Gallacher foundation coach.

The Manson Trophy is awarded to the player with the highest combined score from the Spring and Autumn outings. This year’s winner was outing specialist Neil Gordon who won with a combined total of 73. Congratulations to Neil for securing the trophy yet again.

Autumn Outing

The draw for the Autumn outing to Schawpark Golf Club has now been made and the forecast is looking promising for a dry day.

As usual, there are bacon rolls and tea/coffee before we play and a Golfer’s Tea afterwards. The club has put on a bus for the outing and this will depart from the Harrison Golf Club at 8:00am.

Volunteers Required for the Harrison Open

The golf club committee is seeking volunteers from the membership to assist in the running of The Harrison Open that takes place on the 15th August. The Open is the pinnacle of the golfing calendar and requires a substantial amount of work to ensure that everything runs smoothly on the day. If you would like to help and can give up just an hour of your time, please respond to this post or speak to one of the council members.

Autumn Outing

The Autumn outing will take place on Sunday 20th September at Alloa Golf Club. There is a change in the format as we’ve reduced the outing from the usual 36 holes to a 18 hole Stableford competition. There are 20 spaces for the outing with the first tee time at 10:30. More information will be published nearer to the time, but put this date in your diary.
