The Invitational Pairs was unfortunately cancelled due to the poor weather and zero visibility on the course. The good news is that this event has been rescheduled for the 11th October and that Edinburgh Leisure has agreed to honour any green fees paid on the day. Further details will be published in due course.

Congratulations to John Cafferty who won the 2014 club championship on Friday night. It is the second time that John has lifted the title, his first win coming in 2000. Commiserations to Brian Byars, who fell at the final hurdle for a third time.
Due to the Golfing Society Quaich being washed out on 9th June, it has been decided to reschedule this event for Monday 25th August. It will replace the 5th round of the Boomboolah stableford and means that this competition will now be the best 3 scores from 4 rounds.
This year’s Harrison Open Tournament takes place on Saturday 16th August.

Allan Stewart and Iain Knox are running the Edinburgh Marathon on Sunday 25 May (Allan’s second and Iain’s first attempt). Both have stuck to the tough training schedule and are confident of completing the 26.2 miles in the same time that it takes to complete 15 holes at the Braids on a Saturday (4 hours !!!).
As this is Allan’s second year in a row he is not asking for sponsorship so feel free to sponsor Iain instead who is running for Kayleigh’s Wee Stars. They provide support for families to help them to make the most of the precious time ahead where a child has a terminal diagnosis.
See www.justgiving.com/iain-knox. Any donations welcome, they also take cash for those you don’t like to use Just Giving.
Our annual visit to Gullane for the Spring outing was played in the haar in the morning and rain in the afternoon. Despite the weather and lower numbers than previous years, the course was in excellent condition and a good day was had by all. Congratulations to Gunny who won the morning stableford with a sensational 42 points.
